Underside without pores
Showy solitary orange cupped flower with 4 saucer-shaped petals. Superior ovary and numerous stamen. Mostly basal leaves, glaucous, alternately divided and deeply lobed.
These two specimens were the only two growing out of the end of a cut cottonwood log. They were 2in by 1-1/2 inches across and 1 inch tall.
There was no stipe. Margins are in-rolled and have some dark brown/black edges.
Weather has been cloudy/rainy for the past several days. Average daily temperature is 50 degrees and overnight is around 38 degrees.
