Adult, female. Found a short distance off the Lyons Ranch trail
Weather: ~60 F, sunny with a light breeze
Time: 4:00-4:30
Macrohabitat: oak savanna
Microhabitat: small, marshy pool surrounded by reeds and grassy vegetation. Water is stagnant with a muddy bottom.
Other notes: Caught in a minnow trap for a grad project I’m assisting with. Healthy looking adult with normal behavior. Found with about 15 other newts living in a relatively small pond. Some pairs were seen engaging in amplexus.
