Description

  • Found outside of my apartment building at night in Riverside
  • Did not fly away when approached
  • Relatively small in comparison to hand (see second picture for scale)
  • A few others were flying near the light sources at the top of our door

Prickly Pears (Genus Opuntia)

Description

  • Found in a forest outside of crossing place in riverside
  • Was the only cactus growing in the area, had a few buds growing on the various sections of the plant
  • There was evident trauma on sections of the cactus (as a few thorns and sections of the pads were missing); perhaps indicating that an organism in the area was attempting to eat the blossoms of the plant

Net-spinning Caddisflies (Family Hydropsychidae)

Description

  • Landed on a classmates backpack
  • Attempted to stay onto the backpack after brushed away and blown on
  • Found near Waller Creek, was most likely born near the stream of the creek
  • Around the size of a pinkie nail
