Group. Growing on really rotten oak bark on a downed tree. It's been down for several years

Is this what I think it is?!? It wasn't branching though, just four bright red fruiting bodies separately with ~1m on the forest floor. Another hiker stopped to see what I was doing, and I told him I think this is the really toxic fungus, that can poison you even through your skin if you touch it. He said, "Nahh, I don't think so", and proceeded to give it a good feel with his fingers. He chatted to me for quite a while and didn't report any painful sensation, so I guess not. About 450m southwest of the Green/Blue Arrow junction.
Does anyone know what this is growing in my backyard?
