He was trying to cross the highway. First wild box turtle I've seen in many years.
Quick lunch by the Trinity River -- working on some presentations for the end of this week. Anyways, I had to spend at least a little time outside!
Still more office work, so I went to a different library and then a different park at lunch time. It was a bit windy today, so I didn't stay out too too long. This is a nice park though: Marine Creek Lake Park.
Took an extended bathroom break today at the office. It's great to be in a state park. :)

After meeting with some folks at LLELA about a bioblitz on October 13th (mark your calendars!), I at lunch at this little park and observed a few things.
Headed down to the Lower Rio Grande Valley for a staff meeting with the other urban wildlife biologists.
Explored Choke Canyon State Park, a lake recreational park with some really nice nature trails. Lots of really cool birds here.
On my way back up from giving a Master Gardener presentation on grasses, I saw some nice plants in Cresson, so I pulled over. :)
The internet was busted at the office today, so I went to the library to get stuff done. Afterwords, I stopped by Glenwood Park in Fort Worth.
Elizabeth and I stopped by Half Price Books after dinner, so I explored this creek for a little bit.
Had a wonderful time with a bunch of naturalists and nature photographers in the DFW urban wildlife group.
On my way down to the Texas Master Naturalist state conference, I stopped at High Island -- it wasn't during the "fall out" birding season, apparently, but it was still pretty nice to see the coast. :)
Spotted a few things at the park today, so I documented them! It almost felt like a spring day -- temps in the 70s and 80s, and many of the plants are leaving out already.
Had some trouble focusing on reading lots of grant proposals in the office, so I had to change the setting. I went to the library at Mountain Creek and at lunch, I walked around -- it's a cool area by the library!
I ate lunch at this little park right before I presented to some second graders at a school in Lewisville. It was super fun -- we talked about owls and adaptations. :)
Oh, and yeah, I spotted a few critters and plants at this park too -- I brought a couple to add to the show-and-tell. :)

Large number of plants found blooming in coastal wetlands in San Bernard NWR
Approximately 1 1/2 - 2 inches with wings closed, taking nectar from flowers. Weather clear, approximately 80 degrees.
More nature on the walk to the restroom at the park!
Tried once again to see if I could spot the reported 'little gull' out here at the lake this morning... but no luck. Just a lot of ring-billed gulls!
Hundreds/thousands of robins flying around the park today!
There was a report of a 'little gull' at Arlington Lake yesterday, so I went to go look for it before work, assuming that it would be right by the shore. Welp, didn't find it. But I did see other stuff!
