5 Kereru
Instant record (15 mins observed)
2 flew together (a pair?) into the white mulberry tree and starting eating at B (photo 1). A 3rd flew into tree on driveway (by paddock opening, halfway up hill) and started eating (photo 2). This tree I've seen kereru fly up to in the past, then do a display flight from back down into the bush, though not this time.
I decided to check if there was still one sitting in the blackwood tree a bit further down I'd watched earlier, I found two sitting on different branches, cooing as I got close (photo 3). Checked back, still 2 in white mulberry. Therefore 5 in total. Seconds later, the two in mulberry flew back through the gardens towards the spot at DND where I've seen a pair (?) fly in and out of a few times recently, the same/similar spot to a previous nesting spot noted by neighbour last year (?).
