Had a rubbery sort of texture. Not wet, but not dry; kind of "sproingy" and wobbly. It was growing out of the sandy ground, not dead wood, but there could potentially have been dead roots or something else beneath the surface.
Growing on (I think) a Manitoba maple
Growing in clumps in leaf litter at the base of decaying Balsam Poplar
Cap smooth.
Rim wavy with age.
Gills have 'fuzz' on them when viewed under stereoscope.
Stipe hollow with vertical fibres.
Smells strongly of 'mushroom'
Caragana thicket
Near caragana and on compost from shrubbery and trees being cleared under the power lines
Growing on log on forest floor
Very dry and hard to the touch
