Red Rumped Lasioglossum
Nest in Acacia mearnsii
In small bare patches of bluestone gravel driveway on red volcanic clay.
Location: Lower Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia
Extremely small hylaeus
Shown beside another species of native bee for scale.
Bees are wild but local native flower is cultivated.
This bee was being regularly harrassed by a Tetragonula carbonaria. Here I have uploaded just a few photos, but I have extensive documentation in photos and a video of this incident which went on for a long while of the Tetragonula attempting to drive the Lasioglossum ctenander away.
