At road edge. Planted c.1999 among dense native planting of entire road edge, supporting the ongoing regeneration of coastal cliff and streamside forest from the waterway to the road, in the narrow margin remaining after road construction.

Locality: NEW ZEALAND AK, suburb of Saint Johns, Ngahue Reserve.
Habitat: A large group of adults sheltering under a flake of loose bark on a eucalypt with soft and thick bark.

Growing in wetland above mangroves
I was intrigued with this stand of harakeke at Hinewai as it was the purest orange in the flowers I've seen. I'm used to deep red, bright red and even orangy-red but this stand was notable for its profusion of flowers and the bright orange colour.
