On oak
Growing on the end of a decorticated, hardwood log. The only 'occurrence' noted. Habitat: mature, closed-canopy, hardwood forest.
Unsure in this one. Polypore on a dead hemlock. Unusual to me. Dry and leathery. Possibly could also be Fomitopsis rosea
I’m not sure if the identity is correct.
Found growing singly sessile on unknown rotting log in moist mixed hardwood/conifer environment. No significant smell. Texture feels soft and rubbery, with rubber like response to pressure. Measures 3.5 cm x 2 cm x 2 cm.
Xylodon paradoxa. Small conifer branch. Hemlock beech maple cherry. Average spore size 6 x 3.5 microns.
Growing in mixed deciduous, tulip poplar, caps @2-3".
Found in grass by a ginko… by accidentally stepping on it ;_;
Smell not distinctive to me, but my partner said it “smells like a zoo”. Gills light pinkish-brown possibly due to age, didn’t get a picture but some similar ones growing close by had lighter cream color gills.
Likely C. nigra, possibly C. alta
Spores 8.35 - 9µm diameter & warted
Capillitium very elastic, sticky and growing in size.
DC Street tree mao says this is growing on a Norway maple, about a foot up from base of tree. There was a swath spreading about 18 to 24 inches and up to foot wide. Not complete coverage. Clear drops were coming out along with one or two ornge drops. No rain on bark of tree.
