When I moved a rock embedded in the sandy floor, this spider ran out. It was probably next to, or on the rock, not under it. This was at the very bottom of the cave.
8mm long head/body. These spiders usually hang under a messy web close to the cave floor. At least part of the web is usually on a rotting log.

iNat CV indicated Genus Steatoda but I'm not sure. Initially seen in the open on my patio wall but then it ran off to hide in a crevice between bricks.
She lives suspended over the pond in my back yard. Every now and then she lowers herself to the surface of the water, taps it with her feet, then hoists herself up again. When she sits on a grass stalk, she arranges her legs straight out in front and behind her so that she looks like a single line. She's constantly adjusting her web.
