This photo was taken in an area that has seen significant transition in the past few years. It was historically the site of several apartment complexes built in the 1970s. In the mid 2000s, thousands of units were torn down for new development. However, the proposed development did not happen due the recession. As a result, dozens of acres of urban land went undeveloped, and remained that way for over a decade.
The plants that cropped up in this area were an interesting look at early urban land succession. I wish I had taken better photos of these fields when they existed, but I didn't have a goal of documenting species at the time I took the photos.
This area has since been developed, and there are no longer any fields here. New apartments have taken their place.
Taken while shivering in a cold north wind after watching my grandsons perform in the play "Frozen".
The flower head is pink and yellow inside.
Visited the girdled privets at the park to see how they were doing. I was encouraged by their lack of vigor. Photos 1-3 of first privet, photos 4 and 5 of middle specimen, and last three photos of shrub farthest from the road.
See last three observations made of the trees:

Dropped by the park to see if I could spot the river otters observed by fellow ECRTMN last Thursday afternoon. A chilly breezy uncomfortable 44°F.

Did some belly botany before I left.
