Small bat was seen flying into the lake. It swam to shore and sat in the sun for a few minutes grooming its fur before flying away.

Taken during Alabama Bat Working Group trip to Cathedral Caverns State Park

Size of a mouse in a patio umbrella in the sun. Umbrella was closed when he crawled in. We opened it and saw him then closed it back up.

I don't remember the specific species but will update when I get the notes from the biologist. All bats handled by certified bat biologist with proper immunizations.

I saw this bat fly down into the yard, so I went to go look at it. I wasn’t sure if it was injured or sick, but it flew away after I gently nudged it with a plastic bag.
