With Valeri Ponzo, an unsuccessful search for the Black-faced Grassquit (photographed 6 Aug, not searched for 7 Aug, not seen during one rather brief visit 8 Aug). We walked the short nature trail thrice, Key Deer Boulevard for a few hundred feet twice, and the trail east of the boulevard twice. The weather was hot, humid as hell, and sunny, with calm winds -- utterly miserable conditions. We both got our lifer Florida Thatch Palm (Thrinax radiata). We left at 1156 and drove to Southeast Point.
Was carrying a crumb almost the size of its body in its mouth. I believe it’s ant mountain was beneath the bridge about 5 feet away. It was very fast that almost could not take the photo! It was about a half a centimeter long I believe.
Found in a wetland area. This rabbit had speckled fur with brown, tan, white, and almost black all over its body. Was about a foot tall and had larger ears. They are found from mid to eastern United States.

Thousands of them were on the trail, likely green underskin with yellow hair and 4 bumps on back with all of them. They weren’t too scared of human interaction.
These ducks were brown and were around a foot long. I found four of them together.
