Painted turtle on a log! Have observed only a few individuals basking during these recent hot, over 90 degree days.
Have also seen several painted turtles vigorously foraging (?) in the aquatic vegetation.
The humidity was so very high as to be debilitating. And the drought condition has apparently condensed the fish population, if the number of great blue herons and great egrets is a good indicator.
These waders mingle with two mute swans and their one surviving offspring.

Quite a long nesting season. It has been very dry and warm.
Have observed only a few painted turtles basking. No need?
Observed only one additional possible nesting painted turtle in this wetlands by the middle of July.
