Sand-like granules on mantle, gives grainy appearance. Light and dark bands on mantle, where lighter bands more narrow approx. 1cm.
Quite similar Polycera quadrilineata, but have multiple tentacles oriented forward by the head and they are “scruffy”. It has unbranched outgrowths on the body and three small gills, all with yellow pigmented tips.
Arctica islandica is a large bivalve which inhabits muddy to sandy bottoms, occurring in cold waters, ranging from subtidal waters to 150 m (Abbott 1974; Gosner 1978; Hayward and Ryland 1990). It is a suspension-feeder, with planktonic larvae. The optimal temperature range is 6-16 C.

Kamsjöstjärna
Kamsjöstjärna är lätt att känna igen eftersom
den är helt platt och har utstickande taggar pa de
plattor som kantar armarna.
KÄNNETECKEN Diameter upp till 12 cm (möjligen
större i andra regioner). Kroppen är karakteristiskt
stel och platt och armarna smalnar tydligt av mot
spetsarna, vilket ger dem ett trekantigt utseende. Det
finns tvâ mycket tydliga rader av marginalplattor (en
övre och en undre). Hela sjöstjärnan kantas av länga
ljusa marginaltaggar som fäster i bade övre och undre marginal plates (tagghudingar Hansson 2013)
Shell large, bubble-like, fragile, up to 40 mm; glossy, white to pale brown, up to six whorls forming a rather flat spire. Body up to 60 mm, pale grey to orange, often streaked anteriorly with blotchy lines of purplish-brown, covered with white and dark spots. Head indented anteriorly, expanded laterally to form flattened tentacular lobes. Parapodial lobes enlarged, used for evasive swimming action; covering lateral and dorsal areas of shell when at rest. In and on soft, fine mud, in sheltered bays formerly favoured by Zostera. Herbivorous. Lower shore to 370 m.
