From my observation, dodder is primarily found along the middle and south sides of this hill, and almost solely grows on the thick-leaved yerba santa bushes.
Growing on the many arroyo willows in this relatively moist area right off the Canyon Trail in Placerita Canyon.
There are many arroyo willows in this relatively moist area right off the Canyon Trail in Placerita Canyon. One can easily see the many willow gall midges as well.
You bet that I heard several croaks coming from him/her. Another one was responding in the distance from at least 100 m south in some trees (shown in last photo).
