Distinctive purple stripes on white stems, leaf shape, flower well below leaf. Third photo shows leaf underside - silvery with purple spots. Black beech forest.
Common in silver beech forest near the treeline.
Flower entirely sub-litter. Impossible to photograph au naturel.
A good strong colony present here and notably a good season for flowers all through the lower South Island.
Size: 5mm across. Dorsal emarginate, lower labellum edge coarsely laciniate,
central disc not striped and covered in dense retrorse hairs [Last feature not very evident in photo but there]
Beech forest. moss covered bank. The flower was deep below the moss, approximately 100mm, so very lucky to find one... =)
In mountain beech forest, local, flowers occasional.
