Species of the Genus, Coprosma.
Coprosma means "smelling like dung" and refers to the smell (methanethiol) given out by the crushed leaves of a few species.
Simple, opposite leaves. Insignificant petals. Long anthers and stigmas. Inferior ovary. Actinomorphic corollas.
Domatia present in the axils of the veins (underside). These house nitrogen-fixing bacteria and mites which control parasitic fungi.
