Specimen collected and sent to Allan Herbarium (CHR 635149) where it was identified as Acorus gramineus 'Variegatus'. An escape from cultivation where it is grown as a pond/aquarium plant. Bill Sykes and Peter Heenan have conferred and agree that it is a Berberis species, a South American species in the Berberis congestiflora group. It will be the first wild New Zealand record of whichever of these it turns out to be. Geraldine-based botanist Mike Harding collected a specimens of the same plant to lodge as a voucher specimen in CHR (CHR 616308). 1 comment 2 IDs Needs ID View	616308
