On the sensible suggestion of @cooperj, I've renamed this field from "aff. (tag name)" to "aff. scientific name (tag name)" to encourage people to format their names consistently. For example,
novae-zelandiae ("Motutangi")
for Spiranthes aff. novae-zelandiae ("Motutangi").
I am trying to rationalise our usage of observation fields, of which NZ observations are currently using 741 different ones, 126 of which have only been used on one observation. Is there another field that duplicates this ones purpose?
