Photos / SoundsWhatGolden Spider Wasp (Cryptocheilus australis)ObserverlekDescriptionSaw several of these wasps while walking along the walking-track. Not too easy to approach as they were constantly on the move, but lucky to find this one busily attending to its prey (looks like a nursery-web spider). |

Photos / SoundsWhatGolden Hunting Wasp (Sphictostethus nitidus)ObserverpetemcgregorDescriptionThese two fought furiously over this spider (Uliodon, I think), sometimes trying to drag it in opposite directions, sometimes rolling around together for a few seconds before breaking off. A third individual also hung around but seemed unwilling to fight. I eventually lost track of which was which, so when one finally managed to drag the spider off while the other two were chasing each other and apparently searching for the now missing spider, I couldn't tell which of the three scored the spider. This took place on the bouldery beach of Makiekie Stream in the late afternoon. |

WhatGolden Hunting Wasp (Sphictostethus nitidus)ObservercabbagetreeDescriptionAn all gold/red wasp. This was a little smaller than the one I observed on the 8th March. It was dragging a large spider across chainsaw dust and having trouble getting traction. I think the spider was a grey house spider, but it was not quite as big as I have seen them. short video here-

Vagrant Spiders (Genus Uliodon) |
Photos / SoundsWhatGenus PriocnemisObserverpetemcgregorDescriptionWatched this small wasp dragging this spider towards a burrow (visible in the background). Seemed to be a very inefficient process — the wasp would drag the spider a few millimetres, release it, wander off, eventually come back to the spider, leave it again, go and disappear into the burrow then emerge again, check the spider, and so on. I didn't have the patience to see if it did eventually drag the spider into the burrow. |

Photos / SoundsWhatGolden Spider Wasp (Cryptocheilus australis)ObservertangatawhenuaDescriptionI think the orange insect is a wasp (spider is another obs). This wasp walked backwards firstly dragging the spider off the track, under the manuka and down into a drain, a distance of about 2m. Next the spider got dragged 7m up the drain (this is going uphill) and then into a hole in the side of the bank. The wasp then came back out, dragging the spider and moved it to another hole in the bank. |

I've changed all the interaction field names from "Interaction: " to "Interaction->" to stop them messing with the photo tag processing on photo import. When adding photos already tagged with fields to the "Add an observation" page, it was only grabbing the field name text after the colon and so not working properly.
Everything works now that the colon is gone, so long as you use a recognised taxon name. For example, if I tag a photo on my computer with "Interaction->Visited flower of=Rosmarinus officinalis" and upload it, it will get this field added with the taxon Rosmarinus officinalis.
That can save a lot of time if you''re maintaining your own photo library in your computer and tagging lots of photos there and uploading them all at once.
