They are a month earlier than they appeared last year. Quite small for owlet moths, with a fast buzzy flight. Noticeably green, moreso than in the flash photograph. Last year the suspicion was that they are recently hatched M. inchoata, although never confirmed. Meterana praesignis was another possibility. Campsite on Milford Road in a clearing next to beech forest. Drawn to light. Very surprised to see this (a second example), several of which appeared. It looks to me very much like the undescribed nettle meterana that I see regularly on the Otago Peninsula.
