I'm an entomologist and part-time biology lab instructor.

I enjoy travel and capturing images of plants and wildlife, so this app really aligns well with my interests.

For convenience, many of my photos are taken using my cell phone. But since my main objective is to ensure my photos are identifiable, when I can, I prefer to use my mirrorless camera.

• For subjects like birds and larger, skittish insects that I can't get close to, such as butterflies and dragonflies, I find using a zoom lens has significantly increased my success rate.
• For the less skittish insect subjects, like beetles and bugs, I like to switch to a macro lens. However when it comes to macro photography, much to my chagrin, my success rate is rather dismal.

For this reason, I find using a 10x macro lens attachment on my phone is the best option. It takes great photos and it has the added benefit of being convenient.
