I am a longtime entomologist and naturalist who developed an interest in insects and biodiversity as a young boy. I have been a curator of Entomology at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, PA USA since 1990 and since 2012 I am also a Professor at Drexel University in the Biodiversity, Earth and Environmental Science department. My speciality is in the crane flies (Superfamily Tipuloidea) and have been fortunate to travel all over the world on various projects. I also use iNaturalist as an important tool in teaching students identification practices in a class I teach on identification of biodiversity.
