I'm a research technician at CSIRO, Australia's national science agency. My experience is mostly in micrometeorological instrumentation and the collection, processing, and quality control of the data they produce.

I became interested in contributing to iNaturalist after listening to a podcast about citizen science, where it mentioned you could contribute to the Atlas of Living Australia, the manager of the Australian iNaturalist hub.

The podcast also mentioned that insects and spiders don't get the same sort of attention as larger animals, particularly birds and mammals. As I've always been curious about these sorts of animals, I decided to focus mostly on invertebrates (though I still take a photo of the odd larger animal). I'm interested in learning more about these animals in the longer term, but short term I'm interested to know what types of photos give someone the best chance of making an identification for particular animals. So I'd greatly welcome any tips! The same goes for particular information that might help in the annotation

I almost always try to take photos of living organisms, with the minimal disturbance possible.

Since I have no Zoological training I use a combination of the computer vision and my limited experience to try and pick an initial identification of my own observations. When other IDs have been made, I try and retract my own if they aren't right. I'm more than happy to have my mistaken ID pointed out so I can retract it.
