I haven’t seen two poplars to be enemies
I haven’t seen a willow selling its shade to the ground
The elm tree freely bestows its branch to the crow
Wherever there is a leaf my passion blossoms.
A poppy bush has bathed me in the flow of existence.

I am a plant biologist/ecologist keen to observe, understand and conserve nature.

My observations on micro-morphology and microscopic development of flowers as a master’s and Ph.D. student have given me immerse inspiration for the hidden beauty of life with all its spectacular patterns and designs.

Later, during my ecological investigations as a Postdoctoral researcher, I realized that flowers are not only pretty, but they are purposefully designed with a great intelligence behind each element of their pattern. Such intelligence is best manifested in plants’ interaction with their environments including pollinators.

My recent focus on climate change and conservation biology has opened windows of fear and hope to me: fear of the dramatic consequence of human activity on the ecosystem and hope for stopping such consequences through the communal efforts of nature-loving groups.

I appreciate the effort of iNaturalist and the great community of nature lovers. I am here to

  1. Admire the beauty of life.
  2. Learn about biodiversity, especially of Canadian flora.
  3. Contribute towards developing a comprehensive dataset that will hopefully allow for monitoring, controlling, and conserving biodiversity in the face of the recent climatic crisis.

I appreciate the assistance of experts on my identifications especially of challenging groups (Willows, Grasses, Sedges) and I am happy to exchange knowledge and provide relative information on floral evolution, symmetry, plant-pollinator interactions, species-distribution modeling, and climate change monitoring.
