I am a field biologist and science teacher with a passion for conservation and natural history. My research interests include population biology of endangered, threatened, and recovering species; species resilience and climate change adaptation; the land to sea connection; and ocean health. As an educator, I use narratives and storytelling to explain complex scientific concepts. My goal is to create an equitable and successful learning environment for all students. I am always on the lookout for opportunities to involve students in research and community science to help foster their curiosity about the natural world. I believe that relating science to practical, civic, recreational, and cultural events that are familiar and relevant to students' backgrounds and experiences can motivate students, help them learn to value science, and promote social and environmental justice.
