Umbagog is the name of the horse in my picture. It is a Native American word meaning Shallow Water. The horse was born in Maine, was owned by several different people, none of whom got along with him, and then came to me as his last resort. I have had a wonderful time with him, and as a veterinary technician, I have often stumbled across amazing discoveries when least expected, such as this horse. I think serendipitous might be the best description for discovery. How many times have I been out and about, looked up, and seen a deer, or a bear, or an unusual bird when I least expected it. I am particularly interested in birds and mammals, and I Naturalist looks like an excellent way to document and keep track of these.
