I am the curator of marine invertebrates at Auckland Museum and look after a collection which contains at least 180,000 specimen lots. I trained in marine geology, but also biology and marine ecology. However, for the past 30 years I have worked in modern marine environments. Of necessity I am a bit of a generalist, because Auckland Museum's marine invertebrate collections contain a wide diversity of species across more than 20 phyla.
