Common on exposed, windswept branches of pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa). Associated with Usnea rubicunda, U. sp., Pannaria fulvescens, P. elixii, Crocodia poculifera, Frullania fugax, F. aff. rostrata and Graphis elegans.
Probably D. sericeum (certainly sensu Galloway 2007).Rosette-forming, thallus 150 mm diameter, rather dense, spreading, spongy, and cushion-like, though much cracked, dark malachite green when moist, brown-green when dry (as shown here), hymenia on the thallus undersides near the apices, whitish-cream when moist.
