Locally common on weathered serpentinite boulders. Associated with (and seemingly enveloping) the thallus of a greenish-yellow Pertusaria. Other associates included: Lecidea sp., Amandinea decedens, Dufourea ligulata, Caloplaca sp. and Buellia spp. Apothecia minute sessile to shortly-stalked, epruinose, spherical to ovoid, glossy black. Asci 56-75 x 7.0-8.8 microns. Ascospores 11-14.5 x 7.0-8.6 microns, ellipsoid to fusiform, simple.
