It is quite useful -- although, only as useful as the number of observations/species observed in the area... So, go out and make the identotron better by observing LOTS more! It's fun too! :)
Sam you might already know this, but just in case you don't, it also draws from species added to places. And if you don't get any/many matches for the smallest place it defaults to, scaling up to a regional or state level often works :-)

Thanks Carrie -- I didn't know that! I thought it just used species previously observed in that smallest place. :)
Nonetheless, still go out and observe everything. ;)
