Mark Cocker - "The Oldest Lake in Europe - the birds and wildlife of Lake Prespa"

Prespa Lake is one of the oldest freshwater bodies in Europe and holds the world's largest colony of the globally-threatened Dalmatian pelican. It is also one of the continent's finest lake environments with huge numbers of breeding wetland birds. Yet somehow its location in the southern Balkans - encircled by mountains, and straddling the borders of three countries (Greece, Albania and Northern Macedonia) - has left the place on many peoples' wishlists but off their radars. Author Mark Cocker has been entranced by the place and visited annually for the last five years. His talk gives a survey of the glorious birdlife as well as the abundance of flowers, insects, reptiles and amphibians http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKlxHjRXL50
