A recent study shows that Arthroleptis wageri, previously considered a synonym of A. wahlbergii, is a valid species based on genetics.
This species is recognised in southern part of the range at Silaka and Hluleka, but the geographic boundary is not yet determined, as the next genetic samples (A. wahlbergii) come from Isipingo to the north.
Tolley, K.A., Conradie, W., Harvey, J., Measey, J. and Blackburn, D.C., 2018. Molecular phylogenetics reveals a complex history underlying cryptic diversity in the Bush Squeaker Frog (Arthroleptis wahlbergii) in southern Africa. African Zoology, pp.1-16.
If you recall, the Forest Cobras have been revised and the only species in South Africa is N. subfulva. The name is now recognised on iNaturalist.
