MacroBlitz - Show us your faves!

The MacroBlitz team is doing a summer series on Instagram featuring YOUR observations.

We want to feature your aquatic macroinvertebrate observations on our Instagram account this summer. (https://www.instagram.com/macroblitzproject/). Show us your favorite observations, like the observation that was your first of a kind (I'm particularly fond of my first Predaceous Diving Beetle) or with the photo that came out exceptionally well or of a favorite taxa.

Whatever the reason, share your favorites by linking the observation in the comments with a short description of why this is one your favorites. If you are on Instagram, be sure to share your Instagram name too. To assure that we see your comment, you can tag me @anneclewis or @pegkeiner. You can also message us if commenting isn't your thing.

All the usual disclaimers apply, like only share your observations and the photos that you took. You can nominate someone else's observation but please tag them.

We are looking forward to celebrating your observations on iNaturalist and aquatic macroinvertebrates this summer.

My favorite is this backswimmer that came to my moth sheet. It is a first for me - I had no idea there were backswimmers that huge! https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/221918239

Copepods are one of my favorite aquatic macroinvertebrates.

Anomopods such as this Eurycercus nigracanthus are also quite fascinating.

Most of my other favorites are on the small end of the macroinvertebrate scale. Besides copepods and anomopods, I'm also fond of amphipods, ostracods, water mites and small planarians. I'm @logybayer on Instagram. @pegkeiner
