Welcome to the "Recent Introduced Species Tracker: Van Cortlandt Park" on iNaturalist!

This project aims to monitor recent (last 12-24 months) sightings of introduced species, updating annually every January to maintain current data.

Our objective is to understand the presence and spread of invasive species within the park, identifying urgent "hotspots" for targeted intervention. While we've focused on Multiflora Rose, April shifts our attention to Garlic Mustard pulling.

We face the challenge of expanding our community and engagement. Please share this project with anyone keen on contributing to our ecosystem's health. Your participation aids VCPA staff and volunteers in strategic planning for restoration efforts.

April Challenge: Help us map Garlic Mustard's distribution this month. Your observations are vital for informing our work sessions and contributing to the park's ecological health.

We're thrilled to have you join us in this critical effort. Your involvement is crucial as we work together to map, manage, and mitigate introduced species' impact in Van Cortlandt Park. Thank you for your commitment to this important work.
