Wondering if anyone would share the full-text of the article?
I have the article. The synonymy is made in two sentences without any supporting information, i.e.
'Paropsisterna cloelia (Stål, 1860), was discovered in 2016 in the Hawkes Bay area and identified as P. variicollis (Chapuis, 1877) (Lin et al. 2017). This name is a junior synonym of P. cloelia (syn. nov.)' (p. 61).
However, the second author, Chris Reid, is an authority on Australian chrysomelids, so the synonymy must presumably be soundly based.
The article seems reasonable but I was wondering why Martin hasn't mentioned this on his web site or on observations here (that I'm aware of).

LOL right - I saw 2016 & 2017 so thought it was a couple of years old :)
Chris Reid and others have long known that Paropsisterna cloelia and Paropsisterna are identical although two descriptions exist. There is a continuous range of chromatic variations from speckled and pale scutellum in the south to entirely orange or yellow in the north (Brisbane and Cairns, sometimes also in Victoria). I have dissected several and the genitalia are identical. I have seen an advance copy of the paper and mentioned nothing until publication, of which I have not been aware. I have been off grid in FNQ for ten days. My site will shortly be amended. The synonymy is correct and overdue in my view.
