Found off road in curly Creek falls. Growing in Psme dominant late succession forest filling in with Tshe, Thpl. The species in the understory were stair step moss Hysp, Gash, Ruur, Accr.

There is currently a discussion to split this species into two based on complexity of upper shelf. H. completions and h. Aurantiacum

Spore deposit pale cream. Strong, penetrating, almond-like, odor. Taste is very acrid after 10 seconds. The stipe chambers in the young fruitbodies were filled with clear liquid. Average spore size 8.2 x 7.4 µm with warts forming a partial reticulum 0.4 to 1.2 µm high. Growing under Picea sitchensis.
