Hi! I'm a botanist/ecologist, currently based in Wairau Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand. My interests in the natural world are wide ranging, but I have a soft spot for plants. My specialist knowledge is of New Zealand vascular plants (especially alpines), weed control, and biodiversity monitoring. I am passionate about the protection of indigenous ecosystems and species, and am involved in the activities of various groups, including the New Zealand Plant Conservation Network, South Marlborough Landscape Resoration Trust, Pine Valley Outdoor Centre trust, Nelson Botanical Society and The New Zealand Forest and Bird Protection Society. Most of my recent work has been carrying out broad scale biodiversity monitoring on public conservation land all across New Zealand, and I am now the supervisor of the South Marlborough biodiversity team at the Department of Conservation. I try and spend as much time as I can in the wilderness and enjoy a spot of gardening when at home.

Feel free to ask me questions about plants or monitoring in New Zealand. I'm happy to share images from my extensive plant photo collection if its for a good cause.
