A Hike in the Rain

The sun was a few hours from setting, and a light trickle of rain just started to fall. We started the hike as a group, but the rain drove everyone away, while I kept on going. I was hunting for springs that had the potential for ferns and toads, but the instructions were vague: "around the ridge."I didn't know what the springs were suppose to look like, or how intense the hike there was suppose to be. Before long, I ran into Josh, who was looking for me, and we joined up to find the springs together.

Well, when you're hiking next to a mountain you quickly learn that there are many ridges, and when you're not sure what you're looking for everything looks as though it could be where one would find a spring. We kept on going though, still faithful that we'll find it as we searched around each ridge that we found.

The trickle steadily turned into a heavy rain, and the it was starting to get dark, and we reached what we decided was going to be our final ridge, so we turned back. On the walk back the rain got harder, the winds stronger and we were walking right into it.

At the end of it all, we turned what should have been a quick hike, but we had a ton of fun, which is all that matters.
