March 17, 2020 - Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument

Finally, Pink Fairy Dusters!
The plant I had planned my entire project around evaded me for the entirety of our trip, until today. Our final hike and all I can see are Pink Fairy Dusters buzzing with happy honey bees.
By this point, I have restructured my project. Broadening it to include all the pollinator activity I have caught in action – more than I expected! But they’re still a welcomed sight and add some good final observations to my project.
The landscape of this hike vastly differs from the others. The grand Saguaros and Organ Pipe Cacti tower over us, some Saguaros reaching 5 or 6 times my height. I do my best to take in this last hike, knowing in just a few days I’ll be back in Florida and in quarantine for who knows how long. I breath in the crisp, clean air, enjoy the sounds and scents that fill me with a sense of peace.
I am already planning my next trip to the desert.
