We are mana whenua and kaitiaki of Tangikaroro Native Reserve. We are on a life-long journey, having witnessed the naturally occurring growth of our taonga species in our ngahere, for the last 70+ years.

We are protecting this remnant forest, as a eco-source for the regeneration of our whenua, for present and future generations of our whanau, hapu and iwi of Ngati Porou. We have shared this learning with our whanau, who have helped us to grow our native plants from seed, sourced from Tangikaroro.

Our vision is to increase the pool of horticulturalists in Te Tairawhiti, to allow for more regenerative and riparian planting to continue throughout the generations to come, in the wider Ngati Porou territory.
