I Spy and Identify Invasives

The Canadian Council on Invasive Species is working with provincial and territorial invasive species council to help monitor the occurrence and spread of invasive plants and animals across Canada. With Surrey being on the border with Washington State, and our proximity to the Salish Sea we can be a major point of entry for newly occurring invasive alien species, not to mention existing issues with the release, dumping or 'escape' of exotic pets or invasive plants into parks and greenspaces in the City. Having BC's second-largest population and a large, diverse landscape supporting hundreds of parks and natural areas creates ongoing challenges for the City to monitor and manage these issues. You can help locally and nationally to address these issues by contributing your observations through projects like I Spy and Identify Invasives.
